No PS Vita This Year!
When Nintendo announced the price drop for the 3DS, everyone was speculating on how the new price would threaten the PlayStation Vita's sales this holiday season. Looks like it won't be hurting it at all. And that's because the PlayStation Vita won't be launching this holiday season, or in 2011 at all, at least not in the US or Europe. Japan, unsurprisingly, will get the Vita before year's end. If you are expecting to get your PS Vita, you will have to wait until 2012.
This news come straight from the source, SCEI chairman, Kaz Hirai. He states that this wasn't a delay, and that Sony is waiting to fill out their launch line-up before releasing the Vita in all territories, apparently learning a lesson from Nintendo's 3DS.
Hirai was then asked if the 3DS price drop would affect the Vita's pricing, but Hirai snappily replied that there is so much value already packed in the Vita, the price will stand.
